Top 5 Essential Autumn Skincare Tips

With autumn now upon us and winter on the way, we look at five essential skincare tips to keep your skin looking stunning throughout the year.  

As the seasons change so does the weather. Indoors our skin is exposed to artificial heating and we spend less time outside. All this has a negative effect on our skin but with a few simple actions you can go into autumn glowing. 

  1. Moisturise moisturise moisturise! Nothing drys out the skin like central heating so make sure you double up on the moisturising stage of your routine. Switch to a thicker mosituriser in the morning to create a barrier that will keep your skin protected all day. At night toner will provide easily absorbed hydration to replenish your skin.

  2. Stay hydrated! Great skin starts from within. Autumn might feel colder but with the heating on and warmer clothes we end up losing plenty of water during the day while not feeling that we need to drink much. Keep a bottle of water on your desk and make sure you drink at least 3 liters of water during the day.

  3. Exfoliate! Skin is at risk from drying out and getting dull as autumn kicks in, so regular removal of dead skin will keep your skin feeling great and looking fresh.

  4. Treat yourself to a sheet. Autumn is the time to break out that sheet mask you've been saving. Masks are a great way of boosting the moisture on your skin, plus as the nights draw in it feels amazing to treat yourself to some luxury.

  5. Don't forget the SPF. Sunscreen may be the last thing on your mind on a grey autumn morning but the sun can age your skin all year round. UVA causes skin damage even through thick cloud, so sunscreen with a minimum 30 SPF and 5 star UVA rating should be part of your morning routine before you leave the house.
